The Royal Air Force's top display pilot, Squadron Leader Scott Sweeny, has died in a plane crash.

The 33-year-old was killed when his Hawk T1 aircraft came down in Lincolnshire on Tuesday.

Sweeny was a highly experienced pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours.

He had been a member of the RAF Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, for the past four years.

Sweeny was also a qualified flying instructor and had served in Afghanistan.
