RAF's top display pilot, Squadron Leader Scott Sweeny
The Royal Air Force's top display pilot, Squadron Leader Scott Sweeny, has died in a plane crash.
The 33-year-old was killed when his Hawk T1 aircraft came down in Lincolnshire on Tuesday.
Sweeny was a highly experienced pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours.
He had been a member of the RAF Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, for the past four years.
Sweeny was also a qualified flying instructor and had served in Afghanistan.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
In a statement, the RAF said: "Squadron Leader Sweeny was a highly talented and experienced pilot who will be sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues."
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
