JJ Redick to Coach Los Angeles Lakers
Former NBA Player and ESPN Analyst to Take on New Role
Seven Weeks After Firing Darvin Ham
The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a four-year contract with former NBA player and current ESPN NBA analyst JJ Redick to make him the team's new coach, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Redick, 38, has no prior coaching experience but has been a highly respected analyst for ESPN since retiring from the NBA in 2021.
One of Redick's podcasts, "Mind the Game," is co-hosted by Lakers star LeBron James. Redick is the 29th head coach in franchise history and will replace Darvin Ham, who was fired after just one season.
